Stick ‘em up or the bunny gets it!
It’s that time of year, where filmmakers from across the UK and abroad gather together in Manchester to make beautiful arty films that make us all better people and change the world.
This Easter we’re returning to The Wonder Inn on Shudehill for our Mini Kabaret. a jam session slash open mic for independent filmmakers. If you’ve been before you know the score. If not, a quick rundown:
Filmonik Manchester is one cell of the international Kino Kabaret movement dedicated to making short films in very short spaces of time wherever and with whatever you can find.
The idea behind a Kabaret is simple. Meet, write, shoot, edit, screen.
Filmmakers of all stripes will meet up in our film lab in the Wonder Inn. From first-time-out newbies to experienced directors, aspiring actors to crusty old thesps, screenwbriters, DOPs, sound recordists, editors, musicians, visual artists, and people who defy labels but want to have a good time.
Anyone with an idea can bring it along on Thursday and get help getting it made, with only one limit: you have to get it done by Sunday night. The screening waits for no one!
And if you don’t have an idea, you can come along and help someone make theirs.
Script a film, shoot and edit it ready for the Sunday screening and see what you learn along the way. What could be simpler?
Previous Filmonik Manchester Kabaret filmmakers have gone on to take the festival circuit by storm. Some of our alumni have found themselves participating in Creative England’s iShorts scheme this year. And still others have made and screened their first film, met some unforgettable people, and had a wonderful experience.
Whatever you want to do, remember the Filmonik motto:
